Extract from unknown paper:

Golden Wedding - Our congratulations are extended to one of the oldest agents for the "Surrey Mirror and County Post," Mr Walter Cox, who celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of his wedding day on sunday. Mr and Mrs Cox, both of whom enjoy good health, have a family of four sons and four daughters, and the are also three grandchildren.

Mr Cox is the son of Mr William Cox and he was born at the Forge in the old village 75 years ago. Members of the family have owned the Forge now for 82 years: Mr Cox's younger brother, Mr Frederick Cox, controls the business today.

Mrs Cox, who is the same age as her husband, is the daughter of the late Mr Richard Brasier, brother of the late Mr. John Brasier, the Limpsfield builder.

Mr and Mrs Cox were married at St. Mary's Church, Oxted on August 9th, 1886, by the late Rev. Frank Parnell, who was Rector of Oxted from 1869 to 1902. They opened a general stores at what is now the sub-Post Office, combining with that business those of newsagent and tobacconist. Nearly thirty years ago Mr Cox also became the Sub-Postmaster for the old village; the Post Office had previously been at what is now the London Stores.
