Evans
The Evans family were from Devon, and Plymouth in particular.
Around 1800 the Cox family were from East and West Hanney in Berkshire Where they were blacksmiths.
My branch then moved to Newington, South London and then onto Oxted in Surrey, where they were still smiths and also ran the Post Office and general store. Another branch also became smiths in Croydon, Surrey.
Many thanks to Jill Wohlgemuth for her invaluable help with the Cox family background.
